The FPS Velocity limit is an absolute limit, not a goal.
AirsoftChicago Velocity limits, or create special limits and/or
requirements for Special-Case weapons (See 2.3 Special-Case Weapons below).
Airsoft Chicago reserves the right to increase and/or decrease FPS
velocity limits for special events (Such as events involving CQB
engagements, or Close Quarters Battle). Special velocity limits in effect
for a given event, will be clearly stated along with the announcement of
that event.
Chronograph
All airsoft weapons to be used by participants during the event must be
chronographed by authorized personnel prior to game-start, using the
skirmish authorized chronograph provided.
Any and all airsoft weapons to be used by participants during the event
must be chronographed by Authorized personnel prior to use during a
game. Any airsoft weapon, which does not meet the velocity limits
stated above, may not be used during the event and will not be allowed into
the play area. Airsoft Chicago will not allow use of any weapon that does
not meet velocity limits. There will be no exceptions.
The results of the skirmish-authorized chronograph provided by Authorized
personal will have final say and be the results used for FPS velocity
compliance determination. The results of any other chronograph used or any
other method of velocity determination will not be accepted. The word of the
personnel administering the chronograph will have the final word on the
compliance, or lack thereof, of any airsoft weapon.
It is the responsibility of the event participant to ensure that his/her
airsoft weapon has been chronographed by Authorized personnel prior to game
start. Use of an airsoft weapon during a game that has not been
chronographed by the staff prior to game-start, may result in expulsion,
suspension, and/or termination of event privileges.
All velocity tests will be done with .20g BB's
Special-Case weapons
Special-Case weapons refer to support or crew-served weapons, weapons
which cannot be classified as airsoft weapons, and any weapon, which does
not fall into the classifications above. For example: crew-served heavy
machineguns designed to be used as a static placement on the battlefield
that exceed the velocity limits, mortars, grenades, booby traps, etc.
Airsoft Chicago on an individual basis will evaluate special-Case
weapons. Individuals desiring to use, or make available for use,
Special-Case weapons for the event should contact Airsoft Chicago ( User Azrael) via
PM from the forums board., prior to the event with a description of the item,
available specifications, safety recommendations, and any necessary rules
you might suggest to apply to its use. Airsoft Chicago will then discuss
your proposal, and set aside time at the event prior to game-start, to
evaluate and allow you to demonstrate the item.
No Special-Case item may be used during the event without first
being evaluated and approved for use.

unless the details posted for a given event specify otherwise.
Pyrotechnic devices that are illegal at the field location will never be
permitted.
Legal pyrotechnic devices may be utilized by event planners,
coordinators, and OC's (Observer-Controllers) during scenarios if used in a
such a way so as to prevent hazard of fire, damage to the field, or danger
to other event participants (i.e. smoke used in a metal bucket lined with
sand, in a static position, or props which utilize pyrotechnics such as a
fake rocket launcher). Any pyrotechnics utilized in such fashion must be
submitted, evaluated, and approved by the Airsoft Chicago in the same
fashion as Special-Case weapons (See 2.3 Special-Case weapons above).
Smoke
Smoke is considered a pyrotechnic device (See 2.5 Pyrotechnic Devices
above) and thus, in general, not allowed. Please see the posted details in
the Event Announcement for any event to determine whether or not
smoke, or any other pyrotechnic devices, will be allowed. Use of Smoke will
be allowed or disallowed on an individual event basis depending on field
conditions, location, and expressed member concerns. Smoke, by default, will
not to be used during any events, unless the details posted for that event
specify otherwise.
Smoke may be utilized by event planners, coordinators, and OC's
(Observer-Controllers) during scenarios if used in a such a way
so as to prevent hazard of fire, damage to the field, or danger to other
event participants; and if its use is not prohibited by the landowner, local
field
policy, or administrator of that field.
Paint/Water Based Grenades and
Support Weapons
As a general rule, the use of paint and water based grenades and support
weapons (i.e. available paint rocket launchers, mortars, booby traps,
water-balloon mortars, etc.) will not be allowed during any events.
Exceptions may be made for a particular event or scenario based on the
feedback, concerns, and opinions of Airsoft Chicago; and the needs of that
particular event or scenario. If use of any/all paint and water based
grenades or support weapons will be allowed during a given event or
scenario, this information will be posted in the details of the event
announcement.
Knives, Bayonets,
and other melee weapons
Event participants may not use during play, or carry on their person
during play, any real-steel combat knife, survival knife, bayonet, dagger,
blade or any other item which might be used as a melee weapon; even if that
item is for cosmetic use and kept sheathed at all times.
Tools and pocketknives for which possession and carry is legal by
federal, state, and local laws and ordinances may be carried during play.
Rubber or plastic prop, stage, or fake knives, which could not be used to
intentionally or unintentionally injure a person, may be carried and used by
event participants during a game.
Safety Equipment, and Gear Requirements
All event participants are expected to arrive properly equipped and
attired to meet any and all safety equipment, and gear requirements;
and ready to play.
Failure to meet these requirements upon arrival at a any event, or any
time during the event, will result in refusal of play and dismissal from the
field. The following uniform, safety equipment, and gear requirements apply
only to airsoft events conducted by the Airsoft Chicago.
You must have supportive footwear. No flip flops or gym shoes.
Eye
Protection/Face Protection
Airsoft Chicago requires all event participants to

and full wraparound ballistic shooting glasses (Such as those made by
WileyX? and Smith & Wesson?) are acceptable. Shop glasses, ski goggles,
sunglasses, and military sun, wind, and dust goggles are not acceptable.
Each participant is responsible for proving that eye protection meets or
exceeds ANSI Z87.1 standards. The ANSI Z87.1 rating must be clearly printed
by the manufacturer on the eye protection itself or manufacturer
documentation must be presented upon request that clearly depicts, both
visually and textually, the eye protection is ballistic eyewear that meets
or exceeds ANSI Z87.1 standards.
Eye protection must wrap around and completely cover the eye-orbits so as
to prevent a BB from entering from the front or the sides. Eye protection
should fit snuggly against the face and be firmly secured so as to prevent
them from becoming dislodged from your face.
Airsoft Chicago reserves the right to refuse participation to any event
participant who presents eye protection that we feel does not offer suitable
protection to the wearer, does not satisfactorily meet above requirements,
or the event participant cannot provide acceptable documentation that the
eye protection is ballistic eye protection that meets or exceeds ANSI Z87.1
standards.
Full-face protection in the form of anything that covers the mouth, nose
and ears is mandatory for all those players participating that are under the
age of 18

sturdy, over-the-ankle, lace-up boots for support and protection. Combat
boots, tactical boots, hiking boots, and work boots that lace-up

with them no less then 2 quarts of carry able water un less instructed by an
OC to bring more.
Bug Spray
All players participating in Airsoft Chicago events are required to bring
with them one can of bug spray per individual. With the ever-growing lyme
disease and west nile virus issues this is essential.
Gun cases and weapon
transportation
All weapons must be transported to and from the field in a soft shell or
hard shell gun case suitable for legal transportation of a live real-steal
firearm. Weapons may only be removed from their case in the designated safe
zone of the field. A weapon may not be removed from its case in your
vehicle, and then carried into the safe zone, it must be transported into
the designated safe zone of the field in an appropriate gun case. Airsoft
weapons may not be openly displayed outside of the field's designated safe
zone. If you are unaware of where the designated safe zone is on a given
field, leave your airsoft weapon in its case until you can find out from a
official present. Product boxes are not acceptable as a gun case unless it
is completely enclosed in a bag or carry case. A holstered sidearm is not
acceptable as a gun case and may not be transported from the parking area
onto the field, or vice-versa, in its holster.
A transported weapon must be clear and unloaded with its safety engaged
and any magazine or ammunition removed.
Lost, Stolen, or Broken
Equipment
Airsoft Chicago assumes no
responsibility for lost, stolen, or broken equipment. Individual equipment
is each participant's own responsibility. However, it is fully
expected that any participant at any event to pick-up and return to
its rightful owner, any lost gear. Airsoft Chicago as thievery will view
failure to do so, or failure to attempt to find the rightful owner of any
gear found.
Airsoft Chicago will not tolerate
thievery of any kind. If an event participant is caught stealing equipment
or another's personal properly, that participant will be immediately
expelled from the field with no refund. Airsoft Chicago assumes no responsibility for the safe and timely return
of any items that participants may loan to one another
Code of Conduct
Rules & Policies
It is the responsibility of each participant and individual participating
in any Airsoft Chicago airsoft event to have read, understand, and
faithfully adhere to all current rules and policies.
Safety First
Participants in Airsoft Chicago airsoft events adhere to a policy of
Safety First. The personal safety and well being of each player at any
Airsoft Chicago event is the responsibility of every player. Participants in
a Airsoft Chicago airsoft event will make every effort to ensure the safety
and well being of themselves, and their fellow players. .
Honor/Consideration for
Others
All event participants should play with honor, integrity, and good
sportsmanship; placing these values above winning. While many enjoy the
opportunities for competition that airsoft offers, airsoft with the Chicago
Airsoft Association focuses on Military Simulation, the quality of the games
and scenarios, camaraderie, and the enjoyment of the players. Winning is
always secondary.
Participants in Airsoft Chicago airsoft events follow the golden rule:
“Its just a game”.
Poor sportsmanship and dishonorable play will not be tolerated. Any
individual engaging in any conduct that may be viewed as unsportsmanlike may
result in immediate dismissal from the field, suspension, or even complete
expulsion and/or revocation of membership privileges, depending on the
severity.
participants in a Airsoft Chicago airsoft event will treat their fellow
players with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Honesty / Admitting Defeat
Airsoft is a hobby based solely upon the honor and honesty of the
participants. Cheating will not be tolerated and will result in ejection
without refund. It is the responsibility of the individual to know, have
read, and understand all current rules and policies, and any special
rules that apply to the current game or scenario. Ignorance of the rules is
not an excuse.
All players pay attention to incoming fire and make every effort to
be aware of when they have been hit, whether it is from feel, a light tap,
or only the sound. Purposefully ignoring hits and pretending not to notice
hits is not only cheating, but its also lying, which has no place in a hobby
based upon the character and honesty of its participants.
Immediately upon being struck by a BB during a game, players will
demonstrate honor and good sportsmanship by immediately indicating that they
have been hit. At the very minimum, a player will raise their arm
immediately and loudly call ”HIT!” before donning their kill rag. If
appropriate to the current scenario, a player may wish to precede this with
a dramatic, horrific, and loud death act.
No Physical Violence
All participants in Airsoft Chicago events will never physically
threaten another player or resort to physical violence of any kind. Any
event participant that should do so will be immediately removed from the
field with no refund and all future play privileges revoked.
Scenario Gaming
Participants in Airsoft Chicago airsoft events will always endeavor to
play within the theme of the current game or scenario, and faithfully
conduct themselves according to that theme. This does not just mean sticking
to the prescribed rules, but it means having a little fun and helping to
ensure the other players are having fun too. A little acting goes a long way
to improving the experience for everyone involved. Faithfully execute battle
plans, follow the chain-of-command for your side, work as a team, and when
appropriate act out and play dead in a convincing way when the scenario
rules allow it. Each participant should do his or her part to add to the
immersion of the scenario for all involved.
Many games may involve dividing into opposing forces and establishing a
commander and a chain of command for each force. MilSim (or Military
Simulation) and military styled war gaming requires teamwork, organization,
and a chain of command. A collection of players acting as individuals or
small-unrelated groups and trying simply to gain kills is just a skirmish or
a game of speedball. Participating in a scenario game and achieving the
military-styled objectives requires action and cooperation throughout each
side in the simulated conflict. Event participants are expected to
understand that their side in the scenario may be comprised of several
different teams and individuals working together. Within that side a chain
of command must be established, and most likely, one commander for each
side, and possibly a given side will even further divide itself into smaller
groups that all work together within the chain of command to accomplish
their objectives.
Airsoft Chicago expects that all players will follow the orders
given to them by the chain of command for their side, regardless of whether
an individual player agrees or disagrees with the strategy at hand, or if
the individual player is on a different team that the commander for his
side. All players on a given side are expected to work together within the
boundaries of the scenario, and the chain of command, to accomplish their
objectives. Just as a given scenario and its associated strategies and
objectives are part of a military simulation, so is the act of being a
soldier and adhering to a chain of command.
Referees/OC – Observer
Controller
The word or judgment of a referee (or OC: Observer-Controller) or
Authorized personnel is final. All event participants must comply with the
instructions of any OC's that may be moderating the game and/or any
Authorized personnel. Argument with any OC's, or refusal to comply, will be
considered unsportsmanlike conduct and result in ejection without refunds.
Common Sense
No amount of rules, guidelines, or regulations is a substitute for common
sense. Airsoft Chicago expects its members and participants at any events to
exercise common sense at all times: during games, in interaction with each
other, and within the airsoft community as a whole
Building Rules
(These rules apply
when the providing field has buildings)
1.) Players are
not allowed to fire over the top of buildings or blind
fire down over the buildings. Blind firing around corners of buildings
is also prohibited.
